Real Progress: Puerto Rico Moving Forward
Thanks to your support throughout 2018, ConPRmetidos has made and committed grants totaling $1,717,115 to help vulnerable communities invest in their recovery and resiliency.
As evidenced in the examples below, citizens and organizations all across the island are stepping forward to lead and empower systemic change on the ground, creating the Puerto Rico they envision for their children and communities. You can read more about this work in our 2018 Impact Report.

ConPRmetidos committed $250,000 to help residents of Caño Martín Peña rebuild roofs for the homes of 16 low income families, ensuring site-specific evaluations and planning, construction and repairs, and final inspection to code. In Villas de Sol, ConPRmetidos' commitment of $318,000 is helping fund a program led by certified architects and contractors to rebuild and repair affected homes. The program hires local residents to help build new homes and also trains them in how to install hurricane-resistant roofs. With their new skills, the trainees can earn additional income providing roofing services in similarly affected communities, helping to strengthen the island’s overall resilience against future hurricanes.
Coffee is at the heart of Puerto Rican identity and history. Through Proyecto de la Montaña, funded in part by Unidos por Puerto Rico, and executed in partnership with local coffee experts, local nonprofit PROCAFE, and MLB Hall of Fame catcher, Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez, ConPRmetidos has committed $608,500 for the purchase and distribution of 750,000 coffee trees, manuals with the latest coffee farming best practices, fertilizer and related products for 500 small coffee farming families.

With a $150,000 grant to Foundation for Puerto Rico's Bottom Up Destination Recovery Initiative, ConPRmetidos is supporting a community-based program that strengthens local economies by developing tourism related infrastructure, attractions and services.
In March 2018, ConPRmetidos joined former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and a group of 25 former federal government staffers for two days of community-led action to repair and refresh areas of two public schools in Cataño, where almost 90% of the students live below the poverty line. Yoobi provided classroom materials for 700 students and Walmart Puerto Rico donated two playground sets. ConPRmetidos also helped these schools by covering termite extermination costs and replacing damaged ceiling panels.
